Soundtrack to my life

December 1, 2004 by

I was thinking this, as i drove about yesterday morning and a song that evokes strong memories came on the radio. What songs would be on your “Life Soundtrack”? They don’t have to be the coolest songs, or even ones you adore, just songs which make you think of certain times or events when you hear them.

Here’s mine.. with as many artists as i can remember. (Not my strong point!)

Justified and Ancient – KLF – the May Ball and the orange Beetle.
Daniel – Elton John – those who loved the Daniels and the Daniels who didn’t want to be loved.
Rainy Days and Mondays – The Carpenters – the first song i heard after the actual rainy monday that changed everything.
Tori Amos – Silent All these Years – revising for A Levels.
Young at Heart – (temporarily escapes me) – a year of weekends in Guildford.
Baker Street – (umm…) – living in London.
Stand by Me – (who sung the PROPER version?) – Sally, who died much, much too young.
I Don’t Want To Talk About It – Everything but the Girl – living in Settle with a temporarily broken heart.
What’s going on? – 4 Non-Blondes – a VERY good ski-ing holiday, where i learned to let my hair down before i got grown up!
Luka – Suzanne Vega – late nights with Max before we knew it was forever.
Time after Time – Cyndi Lauper – driving down the M1 on fridays to see Max.
Linger – The Cranberries – pseudo studentville and falling in love properly.
Stay – Lisa Loeb – the song where we finally stopped splitting up – and our wedding dance song.
Ray of Light – Madonna – Frances
Life – (erm… starts with Des, i think) – Frances
Pure Shores – All Saints – Maddy
Here with me – Dido – Amelie
