For Kirsty – with fondest regards!
Comes from an Usborne book, twist several round a pencil, push together and then hang them from everywhere! The perfect craft for all those MP Craft Kit pipecleaners!
Another largely pleasant day today – very different to yesterday but nice.
Started off by doing a decent clean and tidy of downstairs with all girls and Zoe helping (you can’t tell we did it now obviously, but it looked nice for a few minutes!) and then everyone played on computer games for a bit. Fran found a “classification of animals” bit on Learning Ladder and they all grouped round that for a good while. Then Kate turned up and we played, chatted, the girls showed off their signing to a very impressed Kate (who explained the difference between BSL and makaton and showed us a few more signs!) – mostly the girls just signed in order to get more biscuits! Then Kate did some Draw Write Now with Fran, who produced this very creditably.
Kate has developed a method with Fran, which is to draw each stage on the main piece of paper in an interleaved sketchpad, and then Fran traces. It helps Fran to concentrate on the pen control/slowly carefully bit of it. Today though she just worked so hard on colouring it nicely and choosing her colours. Was very good.
Then we got out the box of Xmassy crafty bits and did the pipecleaner thing – at least Fran and Zoe did – i think the others mainly heckled! We have a collapsible crate we are filling with decorations now – shan’t put them up for ages yet though or Moo will melt.
Maddy did some lovely handwriting practise in her new JP book and also read some Bob to Zoe – must get on with her letter chart and some other word recognition stuff. I’ve got lots of reasons for wanting to go slow with her on reading but i also want to seize the moment. She likes having her “work tray” though. So funny…
Then it was off out to Homebase, which i have noticed only has things in it that i want if i go to 4 other shops first – going to Homebase first is a guaranteed out-of-stock scenario. We all oggled the beautiful Xmas decs – i REALLY want some very naff but lovely glass painted Santas!!!!
Came home, girls got 3 chapters of Faraway tree from me and 3 Wonkas from Max and then Fran did some of her work tray stuff which really made me laugh. And now they are all asleep and Ammi appears ot have moved into the “dormitory” – she is in their spare single bed, tucked up with a deflated plastic shark… Fran, oddly enough, appears to be asleep on the floor.
As for Josie – HOW much food does she want??????
