Peaceful day.

I think deciding to stay in hospital the extra night was a good choice because i feel much more rested and pain free than i might have. Those 2 days i was very sore, much more so than last time but now it seems to be subsiding quickly (aside from the occasional elbow in the midriff that reminds me!) Plus another 3lbs and i’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight, not that that says much but its a decent place to start the reclaiming of Merry!

Josie is feeding and sleeping pretty well, last night was the best night since the first and much better for being in our own bed and more comfy. She woke a fair bit and i suppose i didn’t get unbroken sleep till 6am but she can feed beside me pretty well and by early mornig we had cracked it. She got plenty and i then got a full 3 hours out flat. Its a bit of a balancing act as she is very jaundiced and i don’t want her to go too long. She was the only baby to escape a heel prick test on our ward, despite being the yellowest, but i think they knew i was going to say no and didn’t bother. All the others were first babies. She is certainly the yellowest i’ve had but i had quite a lot of pethidine and then morphine in theatre when the epidural stopped working (don’t ask!) and i think she got a fair bit of all that; she was zonked for the first 24 hours and really only fed once.

Max took the girls out for a long play today and they are doing well. They are all a bit weepy and easily upset but doing grand really. Amelie particularly is gorgeous with Josie, i couldn’t ask for more from her.
