August – planning ahead.

Spent last night rifling the book shelves for things i wanted to use. The girls seem reasonably into Africa at the moment and i thought it would be nice to do a project that fully included Moo – i still haven’t really decided if she is going back to nursery or not but if she does (and i suppose i am more veering towards her going) i would like her to be able to go back with a “summer project” type thing so they can see what we get up to here. Its going to be new staff and new relationships so we might as well start off with them knowing where she and i are coming from.

Anyway – so i had a few ideas. Brain dumping here, don’t suppose i’ll do it all or even most of it.

Hama set up/ wall picture thing. Seems to be mainly jungle atm but we can investigate further.
Cuddly toy/sheet map – an Ammi is asleep floor project ot try and get shape and creatures place on an African “map”.
Lap books.
Variety of sticker books/magazines/ wildlife watches that have stuff in them.
Stories from Barefoot Books.
Clipart maps.
World/Africa jigsaws plus maybe a “make your own” with the maps i have.
Stamps.
Crafts – hmmmm….. um…. hm…
Something Rainforesty? (Does Africa HAVE Rainforsts – lol.. actually, does it have jungles????)
Something Deserty – maybe even just fill the sandpit! lol!
Wild animal drawing from “I Can Draw”

((Browse Lisa’s blog from old blog page – she did Africa last year!))

Books
The Animal Boogie
The Sweetest Song (The Story Tree)
The Cloth of the Serpent Pembe Mirui (The Fabric of Fairytale)
The Ship of Bones (Barefoot Book of Pirates)
The Great Mother & The Lady of Ten Thousand Names (The Lady of Ten Thousand Names)
Marriage of the Rain Goddess

Plus the highly dodgy Jungle Tales!!! Oh yes and i have “Tales from the Ark” too which might tie in nicely.

We have World Explorer, Amazing Animals and a Nature cd-rom that might be useful. Might be able to make use of “Carnval of Animals” maybe? Try and discover when the Discovery channel is too perhaps!!!! Have a look for a few useful websites.

Really want to keep up the effort with reading and writing, so am going to aim for 5 simple things each day with Fran of that sort, sticking with the short but sweet and drop it if its stressful approach of the last six weeks or so.

Other than that i want to keep going with the AO reading list – its going well and being well received so it seems sensible to stick with it. Seems to be most easily achieved doing some “weeks” over a fortnight and i am completely chilled about that – better to enjoy it slowly than rush through things.
