Boringly good again.
I seem to have bored all commenters into relative silence now, for which i apologise. All i can say is i’m enjoying the relative simplicity to success rate of the current slightly more organised approach and actually, although i don’t think i really acknowledged it, i’ve been quite down about HE over the Spring. So bear with me :~)
Today has gone really well again – started off with both Fran and Maddy hama-ing for quite a while and then Fran settled down to a load of stuff from her bag. I’d done her a load of wordsearches with colour and number words on them, plus one with all her names and she enjoyed that. Given the girls and i all have 2 middle names, just remembering everything was a definite strain on my brain!!!!
She wanted lots of reading today so i read her a couple Aesop’s fables and The Sword of Damocles (very weird story) and then she told me back the Just So story from yesterday and remembered lots of it. We had a go at illustrating it but that went a bit wrong; still we spent a bit of time of breaking an animal down into shapes and so on too. Finished off with “I wonder why the Romans wore Togas” which arrived today – very conveniently tied in with yesterdays stories so we enjoyed that.
That was part of my replacement Book People parcel. Annoyingly both the workbook compendiums i had ordered and got chucked were no longer available but they sent a “younger” set of those instead and even more annoyingly Fran instantly adored the format, not too jazzy and nice and clear. So if anyone sees the “Learning Rewards” series available there again, let me know. So the day finished off with a load of that (done without me next to her thankfully) and the CGP one again (I was exhausted! AND she’s not even asking for money anymore! lol!)
Trying not to be suspicious about the fact that Ammi turned straight to the “how babies are made” page of a new book and ripped it out. Hmmmm.
Phoned up the college today to offer my family up for a student placement next term and got a 19 year old mum of one baby for two days a week next term. So if Moo is out Mon/Tues and the student is here Wed/Thurs, my week ought to be relatively calm!!!! I may have some for the whole year as well, we live so close now that we are quite handy for the college!
Nursery has got a talk on tonight about sensory integration so i am going to listen to that. If i learn one more useful thing it will have been a hour well spent.
