MuddlePuddle Summer Camp 3

Like Sarah, I subscribe to the “why have a dog and bark yourself” theory that if you have Chris “paparazzi” Portico around then there isn’t much point in taking your own pictures! So below is a rather un-indicative selection of shots!

It was a good week, the weather was not as good as last time and certainly the complete downpour that flooded two peoples tents completely on Sunday night was slightly scary. It did bring out a large band of ducks who frequented our patch for most of the week in a very MuddlePuddly way! Lol! All in all though we got plenty of sun, it was warmer at night than HESFES and the kids seemed to play very happily all week. Yet again, it was a pretty good display of home educated kids being more than able to socialise in a truly lovely way. The mixing of ages etc was fab – i’ve spoken to a few people over the last few years who run out of school or residential clubs for school kids and say it takes days or weeks for a group to shake down together – home educated kids seem to be able to do it in about 5 seconds!

The highlights for our lot were definitely Sparky Krew Club (Ammi sings “KKK – CLOOOOO Clug!”) all the friends, swimming, the animal park and the playground. I have to say that they behaved really well in the tent, camped like seasoned troupers and they just were a delight all week. I was proud of them – its hard to keep up good behaviour all week when its long and tiring! I think i need to send special thanks to The Portico for their “in-van hospitality!” – i think my children have well and truly adopted you- i hope they didn’t outstay their welcome too much!! The lure of the tv and comfy seats was pretty strong!

Moo was perhaps not at her best this week – she completely lost it by Tuesday and only a long long swing and a swim seemed to recover her. I definitely noticed that she finds it hard to comprehend the spontaneous nature of groups of kids, unless its chasing games but all in all she did pretty well. She found the competitive nature of the Krew Club pretty awful. On the other hand she did a great booklet there one day and her memory for detail was amazing to me. Its one of those things i will keep for posterity.

So – on to the photos…

My children and their adoptive father and sister!

Ammi has obviously played way too hard – she woke at 9.15 for milk and breakfast, was asleep again by 11am and is still there!
