Still going well

Having decided to completely lay off today so that no one got over boiled, it didn’t work out completely that way at all.

Firstly they all played in the big girls room – and played beautifully- this was pretty nice because Ammi was itchy all night and kept me awake (mainly with a 2am repeated rendition of twinkle twinkle!) so a lie in was good – i just lay dozing while listening to them involved in some massive family/shop/hospital game – very sweet – Ammi was deeply immersed in it! So by the time we were all properly surfaced it was 10am and when we came down the game continued, very boisterously but all in good fun. Which gave me a bit of time to do this and that which i enjoyed.

We had intended to go to the HE group but then they all said no! lol! And Ammi was tired and the plumber turned up so we didn’t. Then Fran decided to do some “work” and polished off two sheets full of sums up to 10, a matching tables sheet on the 2x, a wordsearch and another reading book – i was faintly astonished really. The sums were pretty easy for her (intentionally so) but she did a sheet with 20 and a sheet with 30 on it and only got one wrong on each – the reason i gave them to her was so she could do them and would spend time on writing the numbers, which she worked really, really hard at and they were all pretty good. While she was doing that i did another one with Moo, up to 5 and i wrote for her while she worked them out with blocks – she can actually add to 10 just fine using our puzzle sums game but this was the first time i had shown her anything written down and she was a little bit thrown – still, we did a few. Moo also sat out with all the Bob books and looked at them for ages and then read me the first 3 quite nicely, including pointing out some of the words with rhyming ends, which she picked out visually; i thought that seemed a good sign.

Also used the Grade 3 Leap Pad book to look at some Solar System stuff but despite what i have written, mostly today has been boisterous free play. And now Max has taken them out to the park and Macdonalds while i have a bit of a clean and tidy up.Oh and they made Fathers Day parcels all on their own too!

We finished the day with Chapter 4 of The Snow Queen, which i read to Fran and Moo – they were both completely still, transfixed and curled up right together on the end of the sofa listening – one of the nicest story telling moments i have ever had with them.

I’ll be back later, i’ve got some musings to do! lol!
