Bloody bloody ARGH!

I wasn’t expecting the EP to be much help really but he excelled himself. Bloody bloke. He did a series of cognative test on Moo, which basically showed that she has the logical skills of a 4yr 7mth old (she is 4y1m) and the understanding of verbal instructions of a 3y4m old. Which makes perfect sense to me and completely fits in with the strange “levellessness” i feel she has. It explains a lot of her blank looks, refusal to follow instructions or partake of activites etc. Her visual cueing is excellent.

Having got this far he then refused to see that it fitted in with any issues she had at all, in fact refused to acknowledge anything was amiss, despite having just done a scientific test on her! (!!!!????!!!????) He then moved on to a brow beatnig attempt to make me agree school would be the perfect place for Moo to grow and mature his main reasoning for this being “You must find HEing very hard, you do don’t you? There is no way you will ever be able to give her the breadth of curriculum she gets in school.”

At which point i exploded!!!!!! And went mental :~) And having reeled off JUST how successfully HE was suiting Fran he then said “Well i was really talking about things like PE.” EH?????? DID i BLOODY WELL MISS SOMETHING???????????

Eventually i said that school versus HE was not the issue and what i was interested in was getting specific help from him for us to work with Moo to help her overcome this verbal understand problem, which, it would have to be said, is something so specific and intangible that i am having trouble grasping it. I think it might be a bit like dyslexia of the brain. Not that that makes sense – but i am starting to see now that the blank looks she gives me might be a real comprehension problem rather than bloody mindedness! His examples were “I asked her to make the little dolls face each other but she put them side by side” and “I asked her to pick up the tree when i put down the car but she couldn’t”. This is ringing bells for me – she has lots of problems with in/out up/down/ etc etc and also following instructions that will make something happen. Its stuff to mull..

Anyway, that the only useful bit of a blood boiling conversation…… fret worry… stress.. strop.

On the upside we put our names in for a house today which looks promising.
