Just the way it should be

Today was mainly not a great day, because I was whittling about something, which turned out to be fine, but it had a couple of good moments.

One of them was hearing them playing so nicely, and Moo suddenly telling Fran how much she loved her – bless. Another was the big open smile of Moo’s face when I got her from nursery, and the cheeky grin she gave her keyworker. She does seem very happy there. I can hardly believe half the year is gone already! I do hope she gets to go back next year and that we can continue to make it work.

One thing was seeing Moo’s enormous play on tidying up after our bust up yesterday and another her sudden change of mind when her dinner plate wasn’t empty enough to have a lolly!!! Another was a long and lovely cuddle with Scruff, who seems to like me again now and a game of face pulling that went on for ages.

The really good bit was something that happened while Fran and I were together, it seemed to sum up for me the good things about HE. We have made a pact that every time she finishes a Ladybird book she can have £1 to save up for a Snow White DVD – lol – how’s that for coercive parenting! – and today she sat doing her word card game while I was cutting out a volcano model to make together. She was happily going through the cards and knew a lot of them, but the thing that interested me was that even though I wasn’t “monitoring” her game in any way, she had no inclination to cheat herself. She kept turning back cards that she didn’t know until she got them and when she discarded 3 each time, she did choose ones that had been easy, not ones she didn’t like. I am sure that at not much older I would have been inclined to make the game easy for myself.

Along with that we also made a volcano model, practised the letter “u” in a writing book, did some Webland and read a great story “Where’s my Teddy?” – Fran remembered it from playgroup and was SO excited -I had to read it twice! (It deserved it, great book!)

After that I had to go to the Doc’s and they were very good about not getting a trip to the park and stayed with Auntie Kate for a bit. Rather a lot of Nemo got watched I am afraid!!!

Am running my first “MuddlePuddle” group tomorrow – not really organized about it either!
