We make Mosaics

Sort of a weird day today- everyone is recovering from sickness, and i have a sore throat, so no one felt up to that much. Moo was alright for nursery, so she went and also went swimming as part of her afternoon there, which she loved. She is really changing at the moment – that level of conversation is coming where deeper thought processes and better communication skills collide and suddenly you are having “conversations”!!! its lovely – her speech is very quirky, and american (????) but she is getting less things the wrong way round and amazingly christened a new teddy “brown teddy” instead of “teddy brown”.

Pud did some of a joseph and his many coloured coat sticker book, and tried to draw some sealife from an “I can draw” book – she wants to do sealife tomorrow – i knew it!!!! lol! Once the other two were off we had a go with a mosaic effect i got from a book. We took these things…

which was mosaic card squares glued on to the shape of a perler butterfly drawn on paper, then covered it with another sheet and used it to do rubbings. Initially she got a bit frustrated so i did ones and then talked her through what i had done and she gradually got more confident. And here are the results – the bottom ones are mine which show you the effects she was after.

She was really chuffed and we stuck at it for a good while too. i think she suffers from a need for things to look as she sees them in her head and gets frustrated if it doesn’t happen – i like wax – its easy to enjoy and i thought we might try exploring a few more art materials with things like this. (The book btw, had the original idea in it – ours did NOT look like theirs!!!! lol!)

To finish off we read a phonics reader together Frog on a Log – which she seemed to read a fair bit of. I read LOADS of stories today, including Moo’s library book called Seven Sillies, which i really liked. It was a story about 7 animals (which Moo counted in spanish on each page!) and had lovely pics of wild flowers in it, which we named.

In the last few days Scruff has learned “there” “and that” and “backpack” – omg – she is really growing up!

Oh yes – and Pud has alos FINALLY moved on from lego towers – after 5 years! Today she was concentrating really hard on creating a wall with a repeating pattern in it – there was something distinctly Zoombinis about it! lol!
