I hate the fact that i look forward to the weekend all week and then somehow we don’t do so much together- i’m really trying to remedy this but the trouble is there is SO little to do round here and i don’t want the kids to spend ages in the car going places either. Anyway… we are working on it :~)
We did do good today i suppose – first we went to slidy dancing (ice skating for the uninitiated!) Pud is in the grade 2 class, where she has been for ages, having missed most of the summer. She finds the foot work for going forwards (push… together.. with toes turned out) very hard although she has been gonig backwards perfectly for ages! She was still finding it hard today but did manage several in a row. If i could just remember to help her practise the movement everyday, she might get it! What was lovely was watchnig her working really hard, by herself, on doing T-stops, which she is really getting the hang of. She can already do most of the grade 3 stuff so once we crack these push togethers she’ll be away!
Moo also did really well and is now happily skating around with two of the big girls – by the time Bubba starts Pud and Moo will be good enough to “be” her “big girls”!!!!! Auntie Kate, who is head coach, works really hard among her skaters, getting them all to look out for the young skaters and help them on – it foisters a really nice team spirit.
After that we came home and did Einstein again – she really loves it – I’m amazed – she has ASKED to do it every day, i haven’t pushed her at all. She had really got to grips with the 2x table today and was putting the answers to the sums in without using the abacus. Then she and daddy spent ages on maths games with the miquon roads – i was amazed to see that the were doing 2x4x2 – apparently she had started building the blocks on to a second layer and he added this into the concept – i would never have thought of doing that. They were also building our ages out of the rods – hmmm… i AM OLD!!!!! Moo also enjoyed Einstein and yet again got all the spellings right! lol!
On the way to skating we listened to the spanish greetings again and used them all day – when we got home i got out some spanish usborne flashcards i bought and thought i would teach her 1-10 – but she already knew! lol! i DO LIKE Dora the Explorer! Put me firmly in my place!
Oh yes – when i came down this morning Pud had drawn a beautiful sunflower and was trying SO hard to draw a rose – now this may not sound much from a nearly 5 1/2 year old but she has been incredibly reticent always about drawing and writing – the sunflower was beautiful and coloured in just right. i was well ijpressed. Even nicer, it was a thank you picture for a large woolly scarecrow her little friend S gave her yesterday :~)
So all in all.. yes… a good day…..
