Oh i could twist and turn in the mud of a good old wallow tonight. But I’ll spare you the agony; I think it would probably be gratuitous and maybe I’ll need to do it more another night.
So instead, let me tell you how I spent the day with the two girls who were here.
Josie wanted to do some things from a book I picked up at the library “365 Things to do with your 3-6 year old” (or something, can’t find it on Amazon, so this morning we made a list and she wrote the numbers down of the ones she wanted to do 🙂 (See what I did there?)
First of all was a felt shape necklace. She enjoyed that for quite a while, making up stories for why each shape was next to the one before.
Digging that load of crafty stuff out made me realise the room and cupboard of doom was hopeless; we can’t do anything because all our craft stuff is shoved behind baby stuff that was jammed away quickly. It felt like the right moment to deal with it all of a sudden, so while she threaded, I dealt with the detritus of a dead baby. Car seat went out, baby clothes were moved to the same cupboard as the memory box etc and clothes put ready to prune out. I sorted craft stuff and after a while it all looked like this. I was really proud of myself; I only cried when I got to the little newborn car seat head nestler. I’ve forgotten. In my memory he’s big, but he must have been so much smaller than I remember. It’s very confusing; even though he was smaller at the end than the weight he was born at, his pictures show so many different Freddie’s that I struggle to have a clear picture. Was he ever so small though? Really?
Evidence of my fashion efforts. Our wardrobe. All those clothes belong to Max or the girls.
You may not believe me, but that’s tidy. Max is going to build me some shelves.
Clothing. I need to prune out the rubbish and pass some of it on to smaller girls.
Maddy tried on my wedding veil and shoes.
Josie did some collage pictures.
Then we started making button pictures.
They loved doing these and they’ve got more complicated as the day went on.
It seems like a pre-school activity/craft but Maddy adored making them and currently two 12 year olds are trying to out do each other with the best pictures made from buttons upstairs 🙂
Home ed like the olden days; I miss having little ones around. I was so looking forward to doing all this stuff again for years.

It must have been a tough day for you with so many memories clamouring. Glad you could sit down and do the beads with the girls.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with a wardrobe like that! The button pictures look great!
Will be thinking of you over the next few days, as always x

I love the button pictures – I was wondering where you got such colourful buttons too! Well done for sorting out the baby stuff, brave girl. I am thinking of you tonight and will be tomorrow, as I have been doing every day this month. I never know what to say but that’s not much of an excuse for saying nothing, so here I am, rambling again…

I LOVE the button pictures.
I’m sorry about the baby stuff but I hope you feel a little more at peace for having sorted it. Your description of the little newborn head nestler has me crying too. x

Ah, I got these from NES Arnold. Had them ages and suddenly they came in useful. Really want to trawl ebay for some old collections now though.
