If you read my post for Sightsavers last week you may know that today is the big day for Winesi, who will get his cataracts removed during a £30, 20 minute operation that will give him back his sight. He currently cannot work, has never seen his youngest grandchild and in a few months, the family food supplies will run out.
For the money we might spend on a family takeaway, this family will get their future back.
At 1.30pm today, this widget will spring into life and you’ll be able to see the operation (in a non-gory form) as it takes place. Tomorrow, we can revisit as he takes off his bandages and sees for the first time in years.
It takes £30 to do this – you can donate any amount via the Sightsavers page; this week I clubbed together with Northern Mum and GeekMummy and donated £10 each, knowing we were giving someone back their sight between us.
But the great thing is, UK Government Aid is doubling all donations until 31st December, so we actually donated 2 operations!
If you can, please do – every little helps, as they say.
